Southaven native Blaze Jordan returns home for 2026 Cardinals Caravan

GERMANTOWN, Tenn. — For Southaven native Blaze Jordan, the journey to the major leagues has brought him right back to his front door.

The St. Louis Cardinals announced that Jordan, the organization’s No. 20 prospect, will be a featured guest at the 2026 Cardinals Caravan on Sunday, Jan. 18. The event, held at the Great Hall & Conference Center in Germantown, marks a “full circle moment” for the infielder who grew up cheering for the very team he now represents.

A Homecoming Trade

Jordan’s path to the Cardinals organization was one of the most talked-about moves of the 2025 MLB trade deadline. In late July, the Boston Red Sox traded the power-hitting prospect to St. Louis in exchange for veteran left-hander Steven Matz.

The deal reunited Jordan with Cardinals President of Baseball Operations Chaim Bloom, who originally drafted the DeSoto Central star in the third round of the 2020 MLB Draft.

“It’s kind of surreal,” Jordan said of the transition. “I came to games here when I was younger… to call this my home field now, it’s pretty special.”

Finishing Strong in Memphis

Following the trade, Jordan was assigned to the Triple-A Memphis Redbirds, playing just miles from his childhood home in Southaven. While he faced the typical “pressing” that comes with playing in front of family and friends, he finished the 2025 season as a key fixture in the Redbirds’ lineup.

Across his 2025 campaign with both the Red Sox and Cardinals affiliates, Jordan flashed the elite bat-to-ball skills that have made him a rising star, racking up:

  • 19 home runs
  • 99 RBIs
  • 28 doubles
  • A .270 combined batting average

Offseason Focus: The “Next Step”

Jordan isn’t resting on a solid 2025. This offseason, he has focused on increasing his agility to handle both first and third base more effectively.

“I’ve been working on getting stronger and my agility, trying to be quicker for first and third base,” Jordan noted. “On the offensive side, [I’m] just hitting the ball in the air more. As a corner guy, you need to hit the ball in the air.”
