One of the affected subdivisions in DeSoto County is Blue Lake Springs, in the Lake Cormorant area.

Groundbreaking held for Walls Fire Training Center

The training center would allow Walls firefighters and others in the area the ability to learn how to combat and extinguish structure fires.

The county is working to bridge the digital divide with its Broadband Connectivity Program.

The vote to approve the county’s commitment to the project was not a unanimous one.

Construction on the subdivision will begin the first week of April and Sky Lake is now in the process of presales for the subdivision.

Expect board members to meet with representatives of the county’s cities and for community town hall meetings to be held to get the public’s input.

Caldwell made history as the first woman supervisor in DeSoto County when first elected in 2011.

Monteith will fill the position held by Bill Austin, a local attorney, since 2014.

Answers to the funding questions need to come soon because project costs will continue to increase.

Groundbreaking for the construction project was held at the site Friday morning with Gov. Tate Reeves among the dignitaries on hand for the event.
