Two arrests, marijuana and $295K seized in drug bust
Aug. 4, 2025 – On July 29, a major drug bust at the Ruleville-Drew Airport in Drew led to the arrest of two men and the seizure of nearly 250 pounds of marijuana, almost $300,000 in cash, and a small aircraft.
Agents with the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, assisted by the Sunflower County Sheriff’s Office and the Winona Police Department K-9 Unit, arrested 63-year-old William Claren of California and 66-year-old Mark Bailey of Mississippi. Both were charged with Trafficking Marijuana and Conspiracy.
A subsequent search of a residence in Drew uncovered more marijuana and a significant amount of U.S. currency, adding to the haul. Authorities say the investigation remains active and more arrests and seizures are expected.

Officials praised the joint effort between local, state, and federal agencies.
“This operation highlights the strong collaboration… in the fight against drug trafficking,” said Mississippi Department of Public Safety Commissioner Sean Tindell.
