JACKSON, Miss. – Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce Andy Gipson announced a new promotional initiative Monday, featuring a patriotic redesign of state inspection stickers to commemorate America250 Mississippi.
In coordination with the nationwide 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce (MDAC) will deploy “Red, White, and Blue” inspection decals throughout 2026. These stickers, which verify the accuracy of devices like gas pumps and grocery scales, will feature the official America250 logo.
“As the nation prepares to celebrate its 250th anniversary, we felt it was fitting to honor this historic occasion by incorporating a patriotic design,” Gipson said. “These stickers will be seen throughout 2026 in grocery stores, gas stations, and retail locations by Mississippians everywhere.”

Since 2021, MDAC has used its inspection stickers to promote state universities. This year’s shift to a national theme highlights the work of the Bureau of Regulatory Services, which ensures fairness in the marketplace. In 2025, the bureau tested more than 16,700 scales and 60,000 fuel devices across the state.
Philip Chamblee, executive director of the Mississippi Petroleum Marketers & Convenience Stores Association, joined Gipson for the announcement, noting the initiative’s role in public awareness.
“Most Mississippians probably don’t realize that every gallon of fuel purchased in this state is inspected and regulated by MDAC,” Chamblee said. “This keeps the patriotic spirit of America250 at the forefront of the public’s mind every time they fuel their vehicle.”
The initiative is a collaborative effort involving the Mississippi State Society Daughters of the American Revolution (MSSDAR) and the America250 Mississippi Commission.
“How wonderful that everyday Mississippians will be reminded of the celebration of our country when they go to pump gas or weigh products,” said Kathy Henry, MSSDAR State Chair.
The new decals will be issued by the divisions of Consumer Protection, Petroleum Products Inspection, and Weights and Measures upon a business passing its official inspection.
