Starkville Police Motorcycle Officer Critically Injured During Funeral Escort

STARKVILLE, Miss. — A Starkville Police Department motorcycle officer is in critical condition following a traffic collision Saturday afternoon while assisting with a funeral procession.

According to the Starkville Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 1:43 p.m. on February 21, 2026. The officer was providing escort services for a funeral procession when the department motorcycle collided with another vehicle that was not part of the procession.

The officer sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to a medical facility in Jackson for further treatment. Authorities confirmed the officer is currently listed in critical condition.

The driver of the other vehicle remained at the scene and declined medical treatment.

The Starkville Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team will conduct a full reconstruction of the crash. The incident remains under investigation, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
