Southaven not among Big Lots store locations closing

There are about 35-40 Big Lots stores that will soon be closed, but shoppers of the discount chain outlet in Southaven can feel good to know that their store is not one of them.  

Elevated inflation and decreased consumer spending was quoted as reasons behind the move as the retail chain is considering possible bankruptcy, according to several reports.  

There are 12 Big Lots stores in Mississippi, including the location at 875 Main Street in Southaven, but they were not included in the list of stores slated to close.  Others are located in Central and South Mississippi with Tupelo being the next closest Big Lots store to the Southaven outlets. The closest store that will close is the one in Troy, Ala. 

Big Lots’ headquarters are in central Ohio and the list of stores the chain plans to close was part of a filing to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.  The discount chain has stores in 48 states.
