Key Points

  • Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics (MBN) agents seized over $1 million in illegal drugs during a multi-agency operation in Hinds and Rankin counties.
  • Two suspects, Sean Antonio King and Latonya Hopson King, face multiple counts of aggravated trafficking while in possession of firearms.
  • Law enforcement confiscated 146 pounds of methamphetamine, 65,000 fentanyl pills, and various luxury goods during the raids.

JACKSON, Miss. — In a coordinated strike against regional drug distribution, the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics (MBN) dismantled a large-scale operation Thursday, seizing more than $1 million in illegal narcotics across Hinds and Rankin counties.

The operation, conducted Feb. 5, involved the execution of search warrants at two residences in Jackson and one in Brandon. Backed by the Capitol Police Department, Mississippi Highway Patrol, and the Jackson Police Department, agents arrested 49-year-old Sean Antonio King and 50-year-old Latonya Hopson King.

Authorities identified Sean Antonio King as a primary multi-drug distributor in the region. The sheer volume of the seizure underscores the scale of the alleged criminal enterprise. Agents recovered approximately 146 pounds of methamphetamine, seven pounds of fentanyl powder, and 65,000 dosage units of fentanyl pills.

“Operations like this highlight the dedication and hard work of our law enforcement partners across the state,” said Commissioner Sean Tindell of the Mississippi Department of Public Safety. “We remain committed to keeping our communities safe and holding those who traffic illegal narcotics accountable.”

Charges and Seized Assets

The investigation resulted in heavy felony charges for both individuals. Latonya King faces counts including aggravated trafficking of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and powder cocaine, all while in possession of a firearm within 1,500 feet of a school.

Sean King faces similar aggravated trafficking charges, along with a count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Beyond the narcotics, the raid yielded a significant haul of high-value assets and weaponry:

  • Firearms: Six weapons were recovered, consisting of two rifles and four pistols.
  • Currency and Luxury Goods: Agents seized $23,299 in U.S. currency and two Rolex watches with an appraised value of approximately $42,000.
  • Vehicles: Three vehicles—a Honda Accord, a Dodge Ram truck, and a Mercedes Benz SUV—were taken into state custody.

The investigation into the distribution network remains active as agents pursue additional leads.
