Powerball Jackpot Hits $740 Million as Holiday Season Begins
JACKSON, Miss. – The Powerball jackpot has surged to an estimated $740 million for the Monday, Dec. 1, drawing, marking the second-largest Powerball prize of the year as the holiday season begins.
The jackpot, which carries an estimated cash value of $346.1 million, trails only the $1.787 billion prize won on Sept. 6 earlier this year.
While the grand prize remained elusive during the Saturday, Nov. 29, drawing, one Mississippi player secured a significant win. A ticket purchased at New Five Star Food and Fuel #4 in Pearl matched four out of five white balls plus the Powerball. Originally worth $50,000, the prize doubled to $100,000 because the player purchased the $1 Power Play option.

In addition to the growing jackpot, the Mississippi Lottery is launching three new scratch-off games at retailers starting Tuesday, Dec. 2:
- $1 Quick 7s: Features top prizes of $7,000. Players can instantly win the prize shown by revealing a “7.”
- $2 Winners Galore: Offers top prizes of $25,000. This game includes a “Coins” symbol for instant prizes and a “2X” symbol to double winnings.
- $5 Double the Money: Includes top prizes of $100,000. Features include a “Money Bag” for instant wins and multipliers ranging from 2X to 5X, plus a bonus spot.
Eligible non-winning tickets for these games can be entered into 2nd Chance drawings via the Mississippi Lottery official app.
Other jackpots drawing soon include Monday night’s Lotto America at an estimated $8.2 million and the Mississippi Match 5 at an estimated $77,000. Tuesday’s Mega Millions jackpot currently stands at an estimated $90 million.
