MSFA unveils new CO2 pipeline training prop

JACKSON, Miss. – The Mississippi State Fire Academy (MSFA), in partnership with ExxonMobil Pipeline Company, has unveiled a new CO₂ pipeline training prop designed to prepare firefighters for real-world emergencies.

Funded by a $50,000 Good Neighbor Grant and equipment donation from ExxonMobil, the prop provides hands-on, scenario-based training for first responders statewide.

“This prop will play a critical role in advancing safety and preparedness,” said Matt Ellis, MSFA instructor supervisor. Mississippi Insurance Commissioner Mike Chaney added that the resource will ensure firefighters are ready to respond “quickly, effectively, and safely.”

The academy recently held its first CO₂ emergency response class with 40 firefighters from nine counties.
