MS College Savings Plan now accepts crypto, Venmo

JACKSON, Miss. – Mississippi State Treasurer David McRae has announced that the state’s Mississippi College and Career Savings (MACS) 529 plan now accepts cryptocurrency payments and PayPal/Venmo for gifting contributions.

McRae stated the move is an effort to “cut red tape” and innovate by allowing modern funding sources for the college savings plan. This makes Mississippi one of the first states to embrace crypto for 529 contributions.

The MACS plan is a flexible 529 college savings plan covering expenses for K-12 education, college tuition, supplies, and job training costs, and can be started with just $25.
