Mississippi Lottery Transfers $8.63 million to State, Powerball Jackpot Reaches $565 million

The Mississippi Lottery Corporation has transferred more than $8.6 million in net proceeds to state funds, marking the first transfer of the new fiscal year.

The lottery’s July transfer of $8,627,069.02 went to the Lottery Proceeds Fund, kicking off fiscal year 2026. This follows a successful fiscal year 2025, which ended June 30 with a total of $113,001,105.82 transferred to the state.

Since its inception, the Mississippi Lottery has transferred a combined $700 million to state funds. Of that total, $479 million has been directed to the State Highway Fund for road and bridge projects, while $221 million has gone to the Education Enhancement Fund, supporting early learning, teacher supplies and the Mississippi Student Information System.

A ticket purchased in Carthage recently won $150,000 in a Powerball drawing by matching four white balls and the Powerball, with the prize tripled by the Power Play option. This is the fifth Powerball ticket worth at least $50,000 sold in Mississippi in the last month.

With no jackpot winner in the most recent drawing, the Powerball jackpot has rolled to an estimated $565 million with a cash value of $258.8 million. The next drawing is set for Saturday, Aug. 16.

Other jackpots include Mega Millions at an estimated $198 million, Lotto America at $2.15 million and Mississippi Match 5 at $135,000.
