Mississippi Lottery transfers $10.5 million in August

JACKSON, Miss. — The Mississippi Lottery Corporation announced it has transferred more than $10.5 million in net proceeds to the state treasury for the month of August, marking another milestone in funding for education and infrastructur

According to officials, the August transfer totaled $10,513,369.43, bringing the fiscal year 2026 total to $19.1 million since July 1. Since the lottery’s inception, more than $710 million has been directed to state programs, including $489 million to the State Highway Fund for road and bridge projects and $221 million to the Education Enhancement Fund, which supports early learning collaboratives, teacher supplies and technology upgrades.

The August numbers reflected excitement from a historic Powerball jackpot run that surpassed $1 billion before being won on Sept. 6. Several Mississippi players claimed prizes during the streak, with multiple six-figure winnings through the Power Play option.

Mega Millions Jackpot Surges

Meanwhile, anticipation is building as tonight’s Mega Millions jackpot is estimated at $400 million, with a cash value of $186.6 million. Tickets are $5 and include an automatic multiplier, giving players the chance to increase non-jackpot prizes up to five times.

Other Jackpots

The Powerball jackpot for Wednesday is estimated at $81 million, while Lotto America stands at $2.89 million. Mississippi Match 5 players will vie for a $290,000 jackpot in tonight’s drawing.
