Mississippi launches homeowner recovery program for 2023–24 storm victims
JACKSON, Miss. — The Mississippi Development Authority will open applications Dec. 8 for a new program to help homeowners rebuild after devastating storms in 2023 and 2024.
The Homeowner Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Program (HRRP), funded through the federal Community Development Block Grant–Disaster Recovery program, will provide financial assistance to repair or reconstruct single-family homes damaged by tornadoes and straight-line winds in March 2023, June 2023 and April 2024.
Gov. Tate Reeves said the program represents “another important step in helping Mississippi families recover from the devastating storms of 2023 and 2024.”
Priority will be given to low- and moderate-income households, especially those with seniors age 62 and older, children under 18, or individuals with disabilities. Applicants must provide documentation including proof of identity, citizenship, income, homeownership, primary residence, insurance and any disaster assistance already received.
Multiple intake centers will open across storm-affected regions on Dec. 8 to assist homeowners with applications. Locations include Amory, Belzoni, Edwards, Forest, Moss Point, Rolling Fork and Silver City. Hours vary by site, with weekday and select Saturday availability.
“This program is designed to cut through red tape, speed up recovery and help families return to stable, resilient housing,” said MDA Executive Director Bill Cork.
