Mississippi job numbers reach record high in August

JACKSON, Miss. (Sept. 19, 2025) — Mississippi has once again reached a new all-time high in employment, Gov. Tate Reeves announced Friday.

According to Reeves, the state’s total non-farm employment rose to 1,205,500 jobs in August, marking the highest level in Mississippi’s history.

“Mississippi is making history – we did it again today,” Reeves said in a statement. “Record private sector investment, higher wages, more jobs – that’s what’s happening in Mississippi. We went to work on behalf of Mississippians, and we’ve delivered tangible results. It’s another great day for our state.”

The announcement comes during a year of several economic milestones for Mississippi. Earlier this week, Reeves noted that the state ranked second in the nation for household income growth in 2024. In August, he unveiled that AVAIO Digital will build a $6 billion data center campus in Brandon, the third-largest economic development project in state history.

Since Reeves took office, his administration has announced more than $41 billion in new private sector investment, bringing thousands of high-paying jobs to communities across the state.
