Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Bryant Center wins national disaster recovery award

JACKSON, Miss. (Sept. 23, 2025) – Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Bryant Center School of Nursing and Health Professions has received the national Sterling Achievement Award for Disaster Recovery from the Council of State Community Development Agencies.

The award recognizes programs that improve the lives of low- to moderate-income individuals through disaster recovery efforts. Since opening in 2018, the Bryant Center has graduated 2,390 students, with 59% from low- to moderate-income backgrounds and a 100% job placement rate.

Gov. Tate Reeves called the award proof of Mississippi’s commitment to strengthening its health care workforce. MGCCC President Dr. Mary S. Graham said it reflects the dedication of the center’s faculty, staff and students.

The 50,000-square-foot facility consolidates MGCCC’s health care programs into one site, offering ADN, LPN, hybrid pathways and workforce certifications with advanced simulation and telehealth technology.
