Mississippi Ag Museum sets dates for 2025 ‘Homestead for the Holidays’

JACKSON, Miss. — The sights and sounds of a 1920s Christmas will return to Jackson next week as the Mississippi Agriculture and Forestry Museum hosts its annual “Homestead for the Holidays.”

The event is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 11, and Friday, Dec. 12, running from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. each night. Admission is $10 per person for ages 3 and older.

Organizers have planned a lineup of festive activities designed to transport visitors back in time. Guests can stroll through “Small Town, Mississippi,” the museum’s replica of a 1920s crossroads town, to experience how the holidays were celebrated a century ago.

Activities include story time with Mrs. Claus, photo opportunities with Santa and Rudolph, and agricultural demonstrations at the Fortenberry-Parkman Farmstead. A “breakfast for supper” meal will also be available for purchase.

One of the event’s signature interactive elements allows visitors to write letters to Santa on limited-edition postcards. These cards are printed on-site at the museum’s operational 1920s Small Town Print Shop.

For holiday shopping, the General Store will be open, offering old-fashioned glass-bottle drinks and Mississippi-made products suitable for stocking stuffers. Families can also enjoy hayrides, carousel rides, and train rides, with live music providing a soundtrack throughout the museum grounds.

The event is sponsored by the Mississippi Egg Marketing Board, the Mississippi Beef Council, Cal-Maine Foods Inc., the Mississippi Poultry Association, Polk’s Meat Products, and The Dairy Alliance.

The Mississippi Agriculture and Forestry Museum is located at 1150 Lakeland Drive in Jackson. For more information regarding the event, visit msagmuseum.org/homestead-for-the-holidays.
