JACKSON, Miss. — The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) is reviewing an officer-involved shooting that occurred during a narcotics operation in Crystal Springs on Monday evening.
According to officials, Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics (MBN) agents were conducting a joint operation near South Jackson Street around 6 p.m. when they encountered several individuals suspected of illegal activity. During the encounter, a passenger exited a vehicle and fled on foot. Authorities said the individual displayed what appeared to be a weapon, prompting an agent to fire.
The subject sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. No agents were injured in the incident.
MBI said it is gathering evidence and assessing the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Once the investigation is complete, findings will be shared with the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office. Officials noted that the information released is preliminary and subject to change.
