Mississippi University for Women students, faculty, staff and other stakeholders will get to weigh in on the school’s next president during listening sessions scheduled next week.
The Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning’s Board of Trustees announced Tuesday it will host listening sessions at the university and online on April 14. Sessions are scheduled for 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. in Cochran Limbert Assembly Room of Thad and Rose Cochran Hall, according to a news release from IHL.
The sessions will stream online at www.muw.edu/live. IHL is also collecting questions and comments related to the search online.
Nora Miller, who became the 15th president of the W in 2018, announced in January that she plans to retire, effective June 30.
Miller told Mississippi Today that she will miss the campus and “the smiling faces on commencement day,” but she will also enjoy spending time with her grandchildren and family.
Before her latest role, Miller served in numerous positions over 24 years: the W’s chief financial officer, senior vice president for administration, and vice president for administration. Miller is also an MUW alumna; she graduated with a bachelor’s in accounting.
Under Miller’s leadership, the W increased enrollment by 8% in 2025 and fended off a merger with Mississippi State University. MUW’s nursing program posted the highest pass rate for nursing programs in the state at 99.36% last year.
