Hyde-Smith won’t pursue Ag Secretary post, will run for reelection
Nov. 17, 2024 – Mississippi U.S. Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith, a Republican, announced late last week she would not pursue a position in the President-elect Donald Trump administration.
Speculation has been that Hyde-Smith would possibly be considered for the position as U.S. Agriculture Secretary.
However, Hyde-Smith released a statement that said she wanted to continue as a U.S. Senator and also confirmed that she planned to run for reelection in 2026.
