Governor’s Mansion celebrates “Season of Success”

Each year, the Mississippi Governor’s Mansion in Jackson, the home of Gov. Tate Reeves, First Lady Elee Reeves and their family, is bedecked to celebrate the Christmas holiday with a special theme.

The theme for this year was “Season of Success,” highlighting the successes of Mississippians in education during the year.

DeSoto County News reporter and content creator Bob Bakken was among a group of media members from around the state invited to a reception at the Mansion Thursday evening and views the various rooms that were decorated. Photos here are from that reception with the press corps.

The Mississippi Governor’s Mansion is the second-oldest continuously-occupied governor’s residence in the United States and it has survived war, near-demolition, and multiple restorations. Its design was inspired by an ancient Greek monument, and it even hosted Union General William Tecumseh Sherman for a victory dinner during the Civil War.

The 2025 holiday theme at the Mississippi Governor’s Mansion, “Season of Success,” was chosen to celebrate Mississippi’s historic achievements in education. Gov. Reeves and First Lady Elee Reeves wanted the decorations to honor the hard work of teachers, parents, and students who have contributed to the state’s recent progress in classrooms.

The theme highlights Mississippi’s historic gains in education, including improvements in student performance and recognition of statewide progress. “Our state is accomplishing so many good things in the classroom, and the hard work of teachers, parents, and students deserve to be celebrated,” said Gov. Reeves in a statement.
