Gipson to run for Governor in 2027

June 11, 2025 – Mississippi Agriculture and Commerce Commissioner Andy Gipson used social media Wednesday to throw his trademark cowboy hat into the ring and announce his intentions to run for Governor in 2027.

A Facebook post touts Gipson’s conservative principles, calling him the state’s “proven conservative leader.”

“Whether leading the charge for Life in protecting the unborn, in standing for our Second Amendment rights, or in defending our freedoms against Joe Biden’s oppressive federal mandates, Andy Gipson was always there in the fight.”

Gipson is credited with consolidating three separate agencies into one during his tenure as MDAC commission and renovating the State Fairgrounds in Jackson.

“Born, raised and educated 100 percent right here in Mississippi, Andy Gipson loves our Magnolia State. He’s visited all 82 counties and has traveled the United States – and the World – to promote our beloved State and our People.”

The complete post regarding Gipson’s candidacy is found on his Facebook page. He becomes the first candidate to publicly declare his intentions to run.
