JACKSON, Miss. (Sept. 23, 2025) — The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) dedicated an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Memorial Tuesday at its Jackson campus, honoring 23 EMS professionals killed in the line of duty.

Gov. Tate Reeves, State Health Officer Dr. Dan Edney, and family members of the fallen attended the ceremony, which featured the EMS Honor Guard and a bell ceremony. Reeves praised the courage of Mississippi’s more than 5,000 EMS workers, who answer over 500,000 calls each year.

“This memorial is more than just stone. It is a symbol of sacrifice and a promise that we will never forget,” Reeves said.
