Delta Grain invests $3.76 million to expand Leflore County operations

  • Delta Grain is investing $3.76 million to expand its grain elevator operations in Sidon, Mississippi.
  • The project will add 2.15 million bushels of new storage capacity through a new ground pile and conveyance system.
  • The expansion is supported by the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) and the Greenwood-Leflore-Carroll Economic Development Foundation.

JACKSON, Miss. — Delta Grain is investing $3.76 million to expand its grain elevator and merchandising operations in Sidon, officials announced Monday.

The project, located in Leflore County, includes the construction of a ground pile and conveyance system. This will add 2.15 million bushels of new storage capacity, enhancing logistical efficiency for farmer deliveries and meeting growing regional demand.

This expansion follows a $6 million investment in 2024, which added a solar panel array and a new 10,000-bushel-per-hour dryer at the Sidon facility.

The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) is supporting the project through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive (MFLEX) program. The Greenwood-Leflore-Carroll Economic Development Foundation is also providing assistance.

Gov. Tate Reeves said the investment strengthens Mississippi’s agriculture industry, which he called a “cornerstone” of the state’s economy.

“Delta Grain’s investment in Leflore County means more capacity for our local farmers and stronger supply chains for our state,” Reeves said in a statement.

Bill Cork, MDA Executive Director, added that the expansion “reinforces the strength of Mississippi’s agriculture industry” and ensures farmers have a “reliable, homegrown partner.”

Frank Brumfield, owner of Delta Grain Company, said the company is committed to reinvesting in its facilities to “provide the Mississippi farmer the best possible harvest experience.”

Thomas Gregory, Executive Director of the Greenwood-Leflore-Carroll Economic Development Foundation, called the expansion “a strong vote of confidence in Leflore County” that strengthens the local agricultural backbone.

The expansion is expected to be complete by the end of October. Delta Grain operates full-service grain elevator and 105-unit rail shuttle facilities in Sidon and Minter City.
