State officials react to shooting incident at Trump Republican rally

Reports Saturday evening are that at least one person is dead and two hurt, one possibly fatally, after an apparent shooting incident at a Butler, Pennsylvania rally for former President Donald Trump.

Pictures from the scene show that Trump himself was hurt when shots were fired. Pictures show blood on the head of the former President, who is close to being officially nominated as the Republican nominee for President. Secret Service members protecting Trump swarmed over him after the shots rang out then covered him to protect Trump as they took him to a waiting vehicle.

ABC News has reported that the shooter, as yet unidentified, and a bystander died in the incident. A Trump spokesman said the former President was “fine.” The shooter was apparently killed by a Secret Service sniper team.

Mississippi Republican officials have quickly taken to social media to offer concerns and prayers.
