Woods earns first-team honors; leads three Northwest players on MACCC all-conference volleyball team
SENATOBIA, Miss. – Following a historic, record-setting season, the Northwest Mississippi Community College volleyball team placed three standout freshmen on the MACCC All-Conference team.
Ariana Woods (Lake Cormorant) secured a first-team selection, finishing as the fourth-highest vote-getter among conference coaches. Teammates Adalyn Callahan (Hernando) and Jania Rose (Lake Cormorant) were both named to the second team, recognizing their contributions to a 30-6 season that set a new program record for wins.
The Rangers finished as the regular-season conference runners-up and advanced to the NJCAA Region 23 semifinals.
Woods was a two-way powerhouse, recording 323 kills (fourth all-time in program history) and a team-high 80 blocks (fifth all-time). She also added 30 aces and averaged 3.47 points per set.
Callahan, an outside hitter, led the Rangers with 336 kills, finishing just 12 shy of the second-all-time single-season mark. As a six-rotation player, she was also second on the team with 315 digs and led the team with a .959 reception percentage. Callahan and Woods are only the second duo in program history to each surpass 300 kills in the same season.
Rose earned her second-team honors as a defensive standout. The libero led the team with 385 digs, the third-most in a single season for the Rangers. Rose also dominated from the service line, racking up a team-high 67 aces, which is already the fifth-best career mark in program history after just one season.
The trio’s recognition comes after a milestone year for the NWMCC program. The team set records for most wins (30) and best winning percentage (.833), earned its first victory over a ranked NJCAA DII opponent, and saw Head Coach Allison Burchett win her 100th career game. With all three All-Conference honorees set to return, the future remains bright for the Rangers.
