SPORTS ETC.: Northwest Mississippi Community College football is again ranked third in the latest NJCAA Division I football rankings.  

Northwest volleyball players were named Players of the Week by the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC). They were: 

Volleyball – Offense

Adalyn Callahan, Northwest Mississippi Community College

(Fr, OPP – Hernando, Miss., Hernando High School)

Callahan, just one week after stepping into a starting role, led Northwest on a six-match winning streak during which the squad only dropped one set. The 5’4″ Opp played much bigger than her opponents, hitting a .284 percentage at the net.

Volleyball – Defense

Jania Rose, Northwest Mississippi Community College

(Fr, DS – Walls, Miss., Lake Cormorant High School)

Rose, primarily in the libero role, received 43 serves during the seven-match stretch with only one error, for a .977 reception percentage. She had 49 digs, averaging 2.33/set, or 7/match. The versatile DS also contributed on the offensive end, adding three kills in three chances and 8 assists, scoring 23 pts on the week.
