Southaven Open tennis results
Championship matches were completed Sunday morning in the USTA Pro Circuit’s Southaven Open at the Snowden Grove Tennis Complex.
120 players from 26 countries participated. In the men’s singles finals, Emon Van Loben Sels defeated Ryan Fishbeck 6-4, 6-3. This year playing for the UCLA Bruins tennis team, Van Loben Sels finished with a 24-9 singles record (14-4 in dual matches). He was also 23-10 in doubles (19-7 in dual matches).
In the women’s singles championship, Kayla Day prevailed over Ana Sofia Sanchez of Mexico 6-4, 6-1. Day turned pro at the age of 17 and has been as high as 84 in the world.
The men’s doubles championship went to Alan Magadan and Karl Poling with a straight set victory over the team of Jack Anthrop and Alafia Ayeni. On the women’s side, the doubles titlists were Catherine Harrison and Ashley Lahey with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Hiroko Kuwata and Kyoka Okamura.
