Rangers outlast Northeast in 99–95 Win
SENATOBIA, Miss. — Northwest Mississippi Community College used balanced scoring, timely shooting and a dominant rebounding effort to defeat Northeast Mississippi 99–95 on Saturday, earning its first win over the Tigers since 2020.
The Rangers (14–9, 3–5 MACCC) controlled the first half behind strong interior play and a 15–6 opening surge, later stretching the lead to 15 before a Northeast half‑court buzzer‑beater trimmed the margin to 47–36 at the break. That shot sparked a 14–0 Tigers run, allowing Northeast to briefly take the lead early in the second half.

Zahir Gutierrez led Northwest with 25 points on 9‑of‑14 shooting, while Ladarius Brown delivered a career‑best 23 points and went 8‑for‑9 at the line. Demetrius Duffy added a massive 19‑point, 19‑rebound double‑double, his second of the week.
Northwest shot 50 percent from the field, nearly 40 percent from three and 22‑for‑26 at the foul line. The Rangers also grabbed 20 offensive rebounds, helping them withstand two late Northeast pushes and secure the conference victory.
