Rangers’ Ariana Woods Named MACCC Defensive Player of the Week
SENATOBIA, Miss. (Oct. 7, 2025) – Northwest Mississippi Community College middle blocker Ariana Woods (Lake Cormorant) has been named the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for her standout performance that helped lead the Rangers to a strong 7-1 record over the past week.
Woods, a crucial presence at the net, amassed 18 total blocks during the week, including three solo blocks. Her defensive efforts were instrumental in key victories, notably a sweep over then-No. 20 Lurleen B. Wallace Community College where she tallied four blocks. She recorded three or more blocks in three of the eight matches played.
In addition to her dominant blocking, Woods contributed on the back line with 11 digs and added three service aces for Northwest.
For the season, Woods is the Rangers’ top blocker with 51 total blocks, including 12 solo blocks. Her season performance ranks her fourth in the MACCC in total blocks and ties her for fourth in solo blocks. She has also registered more digs than the other two starting middle hitters on the team combined.
Woods’ defensive prowess has been a key factor in the Rangers’ overall success as the team continues conference play.
