Games scheduled for Friday, Sept. 1 involving DeSoto County football teams
Lake Cormorant 21, DeSoto Central 10
Notes: Jarcoby Hopson’s short touchdown pass to Tylen Matthews provided the winning points with 55 seconds left in the game. Lake Cormorant then returned an interception for a touchdown and the final points of the victory. Kamarion Franklin also scored for the Gators, as all three touchdowns were in the fourth quarter. Chris Thomas recovered a fumble and scored the touchdown for DeSoto Central. Hopson threw for two touchdowns and 83 yards. He also ran for 57 yards. Eric Perry threw for 172 yards for DeSoto Central, while Jaden Norwood ran for 43 yards. Quintin Hannah caught six passes for 58 yards.
Senatobia 38, Hernando 14
Notes: Topher Jones scored both touchdowns for Hernando.
Lafayette (Oxford) 28, Horn Lake 21
Notes: Horn Lake held a 7-0 lead after one quarter, but Lafayette scored 21 unanswered points in the second quarter. The Eagles got within 28-21 with 51 seconds left when Kavion Saulsberry recovered a high snap on a field goal attempt by Lafayette and ran 85 yards for a touchdown. Jason Edwards, Jr. and Demarkus Crain also scored for Horn Lake. Quarterback D.J. Hunter, Jr. threw for 194 yards. Edwards caught six passes for 79 yards.
Lewisburg 40, Orlando University, Florida 6
Notes: Levi Presley scored two rushing touchdowns for Lewisburg in the victory, running for 96 yards.
Tupelo 40, Southaven 7
Southwind 17, Center Hill 14
Southwind won the game with a field goal as time expired.
Cleveland Central 44, Olive Branch 17
Northpoint Christian 49, Tupelo Christian Prep 14
Notes: Northpoint scored three times in the fourth quarter to put the game away. Jack Patterson hit Charlie Parolli with a 71-yard touchdown pass among the Trojans’ scores. Patterson threw for 199 yards and two touchdowns in the victory. Demontae Dillard ran for 143 yards and three touchdowns, while Noah Obigbokie rushed for another 115 yards and a score. Charlie Parolli and Alex Musgrave each caught a pass for touchdowns.
