For the third time this season and the fourth time in her career, Northwest softball sophomore infielder McKaylee “K.K.” Polk has been chosen as the MACCC Softball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon, April 11.
Polk finished 3-for-4 at the plate in the Rangers’ sweep of Coahoma last week, collecting a home run and three RBIs in the Game 1 victory. She did not record an at-bat in Game 2, but was walked three times in a five-inning run-rule win.
Since the beginning of March, Polk has batted over .500 and currently holds an impressive .571 average with 11 doubles, two triples and 47 RBIs. The Senatobia native has also recorded 16 homers this season, which is the most in the conference and 10th in the nation.
Northwest remained No. 2 in the most recent NJCAA Division II national rankings, sporting a 24-2 overall record and a 13-1 conference mark. The Rangers will face No. 8 Northeast on Wednesday, April 12 for another top 10 battle in Senatobia.
Game times against Northeast are scheduled for 3/5 P.M., with both games carried live on Ranger TV.
