Northwest Rangers enter 2025 football season with high expectations

Aug 20, 2025 – Fresh off a conference championship and a No. 4 national finish in 2024, the Northwest Mississippi Community College football Rangers are gearing up for another strong season.

Last year, the Rangers went 10-2, captured the MACCC conference title with a 34-7 win over East Central, and advanced to the NJCAA Division I playoffs before falling to Iowa Western.

Head coach Benjy Parker said the program’s challenge this fall is replacing a talented sophomore class that sent 18 players to the next level. “It’s our job to recruit new guys who will grow as players and students,” Parker said.

The Rangers return key experience on the offensive line with Drew Brewer, Reginhard Pierre-Nau, and transfer additions from Southern Miss, Mississippi State, and Northwestern (S.C.). The defense will be anchored by linebackers Rase Jones, Chris Thomas, and Johnathan Faulkner, while defensive back Dre Riley earned preseason All-America honors.

Northwest opens the 2025 season Aug. 28 at Pearl River, the team that handed the Rangers their lone conference loss last year. The home opener is set for Sept. 5 against East Central at Bobby Franklin Field.
