Feb. 24, 2025- Back in January, Northwest started off the 2025 season unranked and not receiving votes in the NJCAA Division II Preseason Softball Rankings.

However, after an 11-1 start to the season and four victories against ranked teams, that all changed for the Rangers on Monday afternoon, as the NJCAA slotted Northwest at No. 11 in the nation for the first in-season poll. It marks the first time NWCC has appeared in the rankings since being ranked 20th in the April 8, 2024 poll.

Northwest opened its season in the Sand Mountain Classic in Albertville, Ala., winning games against then-No. 14 Central Alabama and then-No. 16 Marion Military Institute. The Rangers most recently captured another set of victories against nationally-ranked teams, defeating an LSU-Eunice squad that opened the season at No. 12 and Parkland College, which was ranked 21st.

Once again, a slew of MACCC programs are scattered throughout the national rankings. Jones College tops the nation at No. 1 with a record of 18-3, followed by Copiah-Lincoln at No. 8, 12th-ranked Mississippi Gulf Coast, No. 15 Pearl River and 17th-ranked Northeast. Additionally, NJCAA Region 23 nemesis LSU-Eunice slid one spot from No. 12 to No. 13.

Murray State (Okla.), St. Johns River State (Florida), Des Moines Area and Pima (Arizona) round out the rest of the top five.
