Northpoint volleyball advances in West Region tournament play

Northpoint Christian volleyball advanced to the semifinals of the TSSAA Division 2-A West Region tournament Monday night with a straight-set victory over Tipton-Rosemark Academy. Set scores in the match were: 25-15, 25-10, and 25-19.

For the Lady Trojans, Val Hurdle had 12 kills, nine digs and had one block. Christiana Nolan provided 12 kills and made three digs. McKenzie Roach spiked down six kills, had 1.5 blocks and two digs, and Sarah Johnson offered 40 assists, five digs, one-half block, and served one ace.

The semifinals and finals of the tournament now moves to Fayette Academy, beginning Tuesday night. Northpoint, the top seed from District 6 and defending state champion, takes on Evangelical Christian School Tuesday at 7 p.m. That follows the 5:30 p.m. between Jackson Christian, the top seed from District 5, against St. George’s.

The championship and third-place match will be Thursday evening, also at Fayette Acedemy.
