MHSAA releases basketball postseason schedule
The road to the “Big House” is officially paved as the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) has released the full slate for the 2026 basketball championships. For teams in Class 6A and Class 7A, the journey through the quarterfinals and semifinals leads directly to the bright lights of the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson.
Basketball fans across the state are circling their calendars as the post-season intensity shifts into high gear starting in late February.
Class 6A Schedule
The Class 6A quarterfinal round kicks off Wednesday, Feb. 25. The North half of the bracket will take the floor at Mississippi Valley State University, with girls’ games scheduled for 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., followed by the boys at 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Meanwhile, South teams will battle it out at Pearl River Community College on the same time schedule.
The winners will advance to the semifinals at the Mississippi Coliseum on Monday, March 2. The girls will lead off the morning session at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., while the boys will take the court at 12 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.
The Class 6A state champions will be crowned Thursday night, March 5. The girls’ final is set for 6 p.m., with the boys’ title game to follow at 8 p.m.
Class 7A Schedule
For the state’s largest classification, the quarterfinals begin Thursday, Feb. 26. North 7A teams will compete at Mississippi Valley State University (4 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 7 p.m., and 8:30 p.m.). The South 7A quarterfinals follow on Friday, Feb. 27 at Pearl River Community College with identical tip-off times.
Class 7A semifinal action moves to the Coliseum on Tuesday, March 3. The girls’ games are slated for 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., while the boys’ semifinalists will play at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
The 7A state championship games will be held Friday, March 6. The girls will tip off at 6 p.m. and the boys will wrap up the evening at 8 p.m.
