Legends dominate paint in 118-105 win over Memphis Hustle
FRISCO, Texas – The Memphis Hustle suffered their first loss of the season Tuesday, falling 118-105 to the Texas Legends to begin a two-game road trip.
The Legends (1-2) secured their first victory by establishing dominance in the paint, outscoring Memphis 72-42 inside.
The Hustle (2-1), the NBA G League affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies, were paced by Nate Hinton, who finished with a team-high 29 points and nine rebounds. Tyler Burton posted 26 points and six rebounds, while Charlie Brown Jr. contributed 14 points and seven rebounds.
Jahmai Mashack filled the stat sheet for Memphis with seven points, seven rebounds, eight assists and five steals.
Texas was led by Dalano Banton, who tied the game-high with 29 points and added seven rebounds. Ryan Nembhard recorded a double-double with 26 points and 10 assists. Jamarion Sharp anchored the Legends’ interior defense, finishing with 18 points, 12 rebounds and six blocks. Zhaire Smith added 16 points.
The Legends started strong with a 12-2 run to open the game. Memphis fought back to tie the game late in the second quarter, but Texas used an 8-0 run in the third quarter to create separation and pull away for the win.
Despite the loss, the Hustle capitalized on defense, scoring 20 points off turnovers and adding 19 second chance points.
The Hustle will conclude their road trip on Thursday, Nov. 13, against the Oklahoma City Blue. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. CT at Paycom Center.
