KJ Wright has made check presentations to Olive Branch and Byhalia high schools, and also to the Olive Branch Middle School, with their share of proceeds from last month’s Alumni Charity Basketball Game.
Wright and his WrightWay Foundation have held alumni games the past few years to be fundraisers in support of student athletes at benefitting schools. The June 14 contest between Olive Branch and Byhalia alumni teams was billed as the final charity contest to be held.
On Friday, July 3, Wright visited the schools and made the check presentations. At Olive Branch and Byhalia High Schools, $20,000 was given to each school. Another check was given to Olive Branch Middle School in the amount of $15,000.
Wright is a retired NFL linebacker from Olive Branch, who went on to star at Mississippi State and with the Seattle Seahawks, where he won a Super Bowl championship in 2013. He played his last NFL season with the Las Vegas Raiders before retiring after signing a one-day contract with the Seahawks after the 2021 season.
Wright is now an assistant linebackers coach and defensive quality control coach for the San Francisco 49ers.
The non-profit Wright Way Foundation was started to help youngsters learn more about financial literacy, adding sports as a vehicle to grow off and on the field. The foundation is active in the Olive Branch and Seattle, Washington areas.
