Jaguars celebrate seniors set to play college football

Key Points

  • DeSoto Central honored 12 football players Monday after winter weather delayed the original signing day.
  • Coach Will Wolfe praised the group as a high‑character senior class that helped drive the team’s success.
  • The class includes 13 total college signees, including Eric Perry, now at the University of Memphis.

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. — DeSoto Central High School celebrated a dozen football players on Monday during a rescheduled signing‑day ceremony, recognizing a senior class that head coach Will Wolfe described as one of the most special groups he has coached.

The event was originally planned for National Signing Day but was postponed after a winter storm closed schools across DeSoto County. Wolfe said the delay only underscored how important it was to bring the players, their families, and the student body together for a proper sendoff.

“These guys were so much fun to coach,” Wolfe said. “I’m truly going to miss them. They’re just a special, special group of young men.”

  • – Demaury Bishop – Hinds CC
  • – Gage Davis – Mississippi Delta CC
  • – Davion Everett – Northwest CC
  • – Kalen Higgs – Itawamba CC
  • – Braylon Ross – Mississippi Delta CC
  • – Rashad Salameh – Mississippi Delta CC

  • – Brandon Thomas – Coahoma CC
  • – Trey Wallace – Northeast CC

Wolfe said the group’s leadership played a major role in the Jaguars’ success this season. “When someone’s a good person and a good player, that really helps,” he said. “They did everything we asked of them.”

The coach also noted that the senior class actually includes 13 college signees, with former Jaguar Eric Perry already enrolled at the University of Memphis.

A Celebration Worth Waiting For

Wolfe said the school was determined to hold the ceremony despite multiple weather‑related postponements.

“We definitely wanted everyone to be a part of it,” he said. “Anytime you’ve got 12 guys on the stage signing, it speaks volumes about that group. They worked really hard to get to this point.”
