Hustle fall to Stars in Salt Lake
The Memphis Hustle (9-10) were defeated 127-116 by the Salt Lake City Stars (8-10) at Delta Center in the first of a two-game set on Tuesday, Feb. 13.
Michael Devoe led the Hustle scoring a career-high 29 points. Matthew Hurt contributed 24 points and seven rebounds. Adonis Arms finished with 20 points. DeJon Jarreau tallied 11 points.
Jason Preston paced the Stars with 25 points, 15 rebounds and 12 assists. Johnny Juzang added 24 points. Romeo Langford tallied 23 points. Isaiah Miller contributed 22 points and 11 rebounds off the bench. Micah Potter totaled 16 points.
The Hustle scored 18 straight points in the first quarter to take a 38-20 lead at the end of the first quarter, but Salt Lake City battled back to tie the game at 87 entering the fourth quarter. The Stars hit six 3-pointers in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter as part of a 26-7 run to take 113-94 lead with 6:16 remaining in the game and led by as many as 20 before the final buzzer.
The Stars shot 51 percent from the field and made 18 3-pointers. Salt Lake City outrebounded the Hustle 48-35 and scored 20 second chance points. The Stars scored 23 points off turnovers.
The Hustle will play their final game before the All-Star break with another matchup against the Stars on Thursday, Feb. 15, at 8 p.m.
