HERNANDO, Miss. — The Hernando High School softball program honored five standout seniors this week as they signed to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level.

Coach Nicki Whitten tributes highlighted the athletes’ dedication, leadership, and impact both on and off the field. Each player was praised not only for her performance but also for her character and commitment to the team.
• Molly Anderson signed with Northwest Mississippi Community College, recognized for her versatility and selflessness, playing wherever the team needed her.
• Bertlee Barrett signed with Williams Baptist University, remembered for clutch performances, including a walk-off RBI that clinched a district championship.
• Callie Desmond signed with Itawamba Community College, admired for her consistency and quiet leadership that elevated teammates.
• Macy Deaver Boaz signed with the University of Arkansas, celebrated for her power at the plate and defensive skill at third base and catcher.
• Katelyn “KK” Kirkpatrick signed with Itawamba Community College, known for her highlight-reel defensive plays and relentless energy.
The event drew family, teammates, and coaches, who reflected on the seniors’ lasting impact on Hernando softball. Whitten’s remarks underscored the values the athletes embodied: hard work, selflessness, character, and love for the game.
“These five are incredibly special,” Whitten said. “They have set the standard for what this program represents, and I cannot wait to see what the next chapter holds for each of them.”
The Lady Tigers have reached the state championship series four of the past five years, including the last two consecutive seasons. Hernando has played in the past two 7A state finals and two final series when 6A was the largest classification.
