NBA G League basketball 

  • San Diego Clippers 124, Memphis Hustle 117

The Memphis Hustle (0-1) were defeated 124-117 by the San Diego Clippers (1-0) to tip-off the regular season in California.

The Hustle had three players notch double-doubles, with Colin Castleton leading Memphis with 24 points, 14 rebounds and five assists. Miles Norris tallied 21 points and 10 rebounds. Armando Bacot contributed 12 points and 13 rebounds. Yuki Kawamura scored 23 points, making seven 3-pointers. Lucas Williamson totaled 18 points, seven rebounds and five steals.

The teams will conclude the two-game set in Oceanside, Calif. on Sunday, Dec. 29, at 8 p.m. CT.

ARKANSAS WIN AUTOZONE LIBERTY BOWL

Quarterback Taylen Green led Arkansas in a 39-26 victory over Texas Tech Friday night in the 66th AutoZone Liberty Bowl at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium in Memphis in front of a crowd of 37,764.

Green was named the AutoZone Liberty Bowl MVP after completing 11-of-21 passes for 341 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing 15 times for 81 yards and another score. His 422 total yards are the second most offensive yards in Liberty Bowl history. Green became the only FBS quarterback this century to pass for 300+ yards, rush for 75+ yards and average 30.0+ yards per completion with no interceptions in a single game, bowl or otherwise.

Freshman running back J’Koby Williams was named Texas Tech’s Most Outstanding Offensive Player after rushing for a career-high 123 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries. He also caught four balls for 36 yards out of the backfield.
