Friday sports: Eagles sweep Gentry

Friday’s lone high school basketball action saw Horn Lake travel to Indianola to play at Gentry. That was where first-year Horn Lake coach Chico Potts coached last season, taking the Rams to a 25-8 record and the third round of the Class 4 boys’ basketball playoffs.

Prep boys basketball

  • Horn Lake 58, Indianola Gentry 43
    • Horn Lake: Kylen Pernell 15, Kyren Pernell 12. Gentry: J. Leavy 11. Horn Lake led 28-20 at halftime.  

Prep girls basketball

  • Horn Lake 51, Indianola Gentry 28
    • Horn Lake: Indiya Bowen 17, Franziska Kelly 13. Gentry: Deundria Stovall 9. Horn Lake led 26-17 at halftime.   

SPORTS ETC.: DeSoto Central High School saw six baseball players sign letters of intent this week. They include Colton Coates, who signed with Louisiana Tech and five others who signed with community colleges.
