Duffy earns MACCC weekly honor

SENATOBIA, Miss. — Northwest Mississippi freshman forward Demetrius Duffy has been named the MACCC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, becoming the program’s first recipient of the award since 2022.

Duffy powered the Rangers to a 2–1 week with three consecutive double-doubles. He opened with 18 points and 11 rebounds in a 99–93 win over Meridian, then delivered a dominant second half against No. 19 Jones College, scoring 22 of his 24 points while adding 15 rebounds. He capped the stretch with 19 points and 19 boards in Northwest’s first victory over Northeast Mississippi since 2020.

Through the season, Duffy is averaging 15.7 points and 9.9 rebounds while shooting nearly 64 percent from the field and close to 70 percent at the free‑throw line.

He is the first Ranger to earn the conference’s weekly honor since Isaiah Gaines in January 2022.
