Birmingham Squadron dominate Memphis Hustle 118-85

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Johnny O’Neil scored a career-high 25 points and drained seven 3-pointers to lead the Birmingham Squadron to a dominant 118-85 victory over the Memphis Hustle on Wednesday afternoon at Legacy Arena.

Despite missing four players due to injury and having all three two-way players assigned to the New Orleans Pelicans, the Squadron (3-5) controlled the contest from the opening tip. Garrison Brooks, making his first start of the season, recorded a double-double with season highs of 22 points, 13 rebounds, and six assists.

Keion Brooks Jr. also contributed a season-high 22 points for Birmingham.

The Squadron overwhelmed Memphis (3-7) in the first half, building a 74-36 lead by intermission. The 36 points allowed tied a Birmingham franchise record for fewest points allowed in a half. Offensively, the Squadron connected on 15 3-pointers in the first two quarters, their highest total in a half since Nov. 17, 2024.

Birmingham led by as many as 47 points in the third quarter.

The two teams will conclude their series on Friday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m. at Legacy Arena.
