AutoZone Liberty Bowl finalist for Bowl Season Bestie Award
Bowl Season, an association of all the post-season college football bowl games, has named the AutoZone Liberty Bowl a finalist in the inaugural “Bowl Season Besties Awards”. The initial announcement was made earlier Monday morning, April 17 by Bowl Season and Sports Business Journal.
The AutoZone Liberty Bowl is being recognized in the “Best In Game Presentation” for its game day activation and recognition of Gold Star Families at the 2022 AutoZone Liberty Bowl game.
For the second consecutive year, the AutoZone Liberty Bowl and Simmons Bank hosted 300 Gold Star Family members from across the country. Gold Star Families are those who have lost loved ones during military service to the United States of America.
The 300 Gold Star Family members were honored and hosted at a pre-game tailgate and recognized during the game. A key element to the in game presentation was a field goal attempt by a Gold Star Family member.
The field goal attempt presentation included a donation by AutoZone Liberty Bowl sponsor, Simmons Bank, to the Gold Star Families Memorial that will open soon at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium. The field goal attempt missed, but it still resulted in a $50,000 donation by Simmons Bank to the Gold Star Families Memorial and outstanding awareness of the Gold Star Families program.
The winner in each “Bowl Season Besties Awards” category will be announced Wednesday, April 19.
