Woman charged in stabbing death of father, wounding of brother

A woman is being held in the DeSoto County Adult Detention Center in Hernando charged with murder and attempted murder after a Sunday evening incident in Horn Lake.

Police report officers were sent to the 900 block of Goodman Road about 9:30 p.m. Sunday after a disturbance among family members.  

Officers found two victims with stab wounds when they arrived. They were able to disarm a third family member and was identified as the offender.  

According to police, Angela Campbell, age 54, was arrested in the death of Alvin Gilless Sr., age 82, and the wounding of Alvin Gilless Jr.

Gilless Sr. was pronounced dead at the scene and Gilless Jr. was taken to Regional One Health for treatment.  He has since been released.  

Campbell has been charged with murder and attempted to murder in the case. Horn Lake Police say the case remains under investigation. Police have not released a motive or reason for the stabbing.  

Information from the DeSoto County Jail has Campbell being held without bond and a court date of Oct. 19 has been set in the case.  It also lists her address as being Aldie, Virginia.
