Verizon Offers $20 Credit to Customers Affected by Outage
Verizon says it will provide a $20 account credit to customers affected by a large-scale service outage that disrupted phone, text and data service across parts of North Mississippi and the Mid-South this week.
The company announced the credit Wednesday, acknowledging the disruption and outlining steps for customers to claim compensation.
“Yesterday, we did not meet the standard of excellence you expect and that we expect of ourselves,” Verizon said in a statement. “To help provide some relief to those affected, we will give you a $20 account credit that can be easily redeemed by logging into the myVerizon app.”
According to Verizon, customers will receive a text message when the credit is available. The company said the $20 credit typically covers multiple days of service. Business customers will be contacted directly regarding their credits.
The outage affected thousands of customers and prompted widespread complaints across social media and local communities. More details on the outage’s local impact can be found at DeSoto County News:

Verizon said the credit is not intended to fully compensate customers for the disruption but is meant to acknowledge the inconvenience.
“This credit isn’t meant to make up for what happened. No credit really can,” the company said. “But it’s a way of acknowledging your time and showing that this matters to us.”
Customers who are still experiencing connection problems are encouraged to restart their devices by powering them off and back on, which Verizon says is the fastest way to reconnect to the network.
“We are sorry for what you experienced and will continue to work hard day and night to provide the outstanding network and service that you expect from Verizon,” the company said.
