Tunica County deaths ruled possible murder-suicide
On Sunday, Dec. 8 at approximately 4:43 p.m., Tunica County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a relative and friend requesting medical assistance at 1325 Jacks Avenue, Tunica.
Deputies arrived on the scene discovering two victims each with a single gunshot wound, the victims being a husband and wife.
The two were found unresponsive and later pronounced deceased by Tunica County Deputy Coroner Dennis Washington. The male was identified as 52-year-old Lonnie Nelson, Jr. and the female was identified as 53-year-old Vickie Lane Nelson.
There were two firearms recovered from the scene and will be sent to the Crime Lab for Forensic Testing. Both bodies were transported to Jackson for an autopsy.
Tunica County Sheriff’s Office Investigators are in the preliminary stages of its investigation, moreover evidence is pointing toward an unofficial homicide murder-suicide.
