  • Reason for Election: These special elections are being held as a result of court-ordered legislative redistricting, which created new boundaries for several Mississippi Senate districts, including those affecting DeSoto County.

Four special state Senate elections are impacting voters in DeSoto County. The candidates for each district are listed below.

Senate District 1 (Parts of DeSoto & Tate Counties)

  • Chris Hanna (Democrat)
  • Michael McLendon (Republican – Incumbent)

Senate District 2 (Parts of DeSoto & Tunica Counties)

  • Theresa Gillespie Isom (Democrat)
  • Charlie Hoots (Republican)

Senate District 11 (Parts of DeSoto & Tunica Counties, including Walls)

  • Reginald Jackson (Democrat – Incumbent)
  • Kendall Prewitt (Republican)

Senate District 19 (Parts of DeSoto & Marshall Counties)

  • Dianne Dodson Black (Democrat)
  • Kevin Blackwell (Republican – Incumbent)

Voter Information

  • Voter ID: Remember to bring an acceptable form of photo ID to vote. This includes a driver’s license, a government-issued photo ID card, a U.S. passport, or a Mississippi Voter Identification Card.
