Southaven Police Labor Day Weekend Crime Suppression Operation
SOUTHAVEN, Miss. – The Southaven Police Department stepped up enforcement efforts over the Labor Day holiday weekend, conducting a citywide crime suppression operation on Saturday, Aug. 30 that led to multiple arrests and dozens of traffic stops.
The Southaven crime suppression detail was part of the department’s ongoing effort to keep the community safe. Officers made 71 traffic stops and 15 arrests during the targeted enforcement effort.
“Our goal is to keep Southaven a safe place to live, work and visit,” the department said in a statement. “The safety of our citizens and those that visit are of the utmost importance.”
Arrest Results
- Five people were arrested on a traffic stop for possession of a machine gun device, a stolen firearm, and drug paraphernalia.
- Two individuals were arrested on charges of solicitation and procuring services for prostitution.
- Two arrests were made for driving under the influence (DUI).
- One arrest was for felony possession of a controlled substance.
